What is Mapped Asia?

Mapped Asia is a curated platform that aims to make your career easy. We help with 4 key services – job search, mentorship, employer branding and consulting. It is designed to help job seekers, mentees, mentors, companies and consultants.

How do I contact Mapped Asia for any technical issues?

How can I provide feedback?
You may write to us on hello@mappedasia.com.
Can I download and print any information from this platform?

All information on the platform is property of Mapped Asia and any breach will be actioned by Mapped Asia based on our terms of use.

Can I take on multiple roles on this platform (job seeker, company, mentor, mentee, consultant)?

Yes, you may be all of the above. Please note that you will have different details to provide for each on your “My Account” page.

Do I have to pay to use this platform?

Features such as job search, browsing companies and career insights are all free. In order to use mentorship services, mentees will have to pay the mentors they wish to engage with.

Do I need to register to use these services? 

Yes, you need to register with either your email or LinkedIn account to use these services.

Can I withdraw my application?
Once you have applied, you cannot withdraw your application.
Are you able to follow up on my application?

We are not able to help you chase or check your application status. You can reach out to the company on your own accord for any follow ups.

Can I have the contact details of the hiring managers at the companies I apply to?

We are not able to share any company data and information which the company has elected to keep private. You can reach out to the company on your own accord for any follow ups.

Can I track the jobs I have applied for?

You can track the jobs you have applied for, as well as the companies you chose to follow on your “My Account” page.

Do I have to pay a fee if I get a job through Mapped Asia?

No, you are not required to pay any fee to Mapped Asia upon securing a job through our platform.

How long does it take to get a response?

Mapped Asia is not able to predict the response time on your application as that decision is made by the company.

Do you guarantee a reply or a response?

While we would love to ensure everyone hears back, it is the prerogative of the company to get back to you. We do not guarantee a reply and due to the volume of applications, in most cases, only shortlisted applicants will be notified.

Will I get a response from the company or Mapped Asia?

You will get a response directly from the company in the event that you are shortlisted for the role.

What format should my CV be in?

We recommend you upload your CV in PDF format, which keeps it safer as it is your intellectual property. However, you may wish to use Microsoft Word as well.

How do I send the company my CV?
You can attach your existing CV on your “My Account” page,  and this will be sent to the hiring manager of the job you are applying for. In the event that you do not have a CV, you can use our “Make my CV” feature for free. Some companies may require you to apply for the job directly on their company website, in which case the “apply” button will take you to the relevant page.
Can I apply to multiple jobs?

Yes, you may apply to as many jobs as you want to through our platform. We recommend reading through job descriptions carefully, to ensure your application is relevant, which will increase your chances of success.

Can I conduct my session virtually?
We encourage all our interactions to take place in person. Currently, we have launched only in Singapore, so we would be limiting our interactions to be either at the mentor office, the Mapped Asia office, or at a coffee shop in Singapore of your choice. We will soon be expanding this across the region.
Do I get a review as well?

Yes, your mentor will also give you a review, which will be visible to any future mentors to whom you send session requests. Do note, all comments and feedback have to be approved by our system administrator, so you do not have to be concerned about bad language or abusive comments.

How do I book a session?

Ensure that your mentee profile has been filled up with your details. Then click on “Request a session” on the mentor’s profile, which will ask you to choose a date and time slot (only the available slots are highlighted), and then select a location. The mentor will receive your request and you will get a notification indicating that they have accepted or rejected the request. If accepted, you can proceed to make the payment.

How do I check reviews and ratings before booking a session?

You can browse various mentors on the platform and read the reviews left by previous mentees on their profiles.

How long is each session?

We encourage each session to be a minimum of 60 minutes. However, it is at the discretion of the mentor/mentee to extend the session at no additional cost. A mentor can also suggest a new session in the event they feel an additional session is required.

What are the charges for mentorship?

The charges for mentorship vary based on who you wish to be mentored by, and for what service. Each mentor offers different pricing based on their experience and skills.

How many people can I be mentored by?
You can arrange sessions with as many people as you like.
How do I search for targeted mentors?

We have a search function where you can search by key words, industry, function or location.

Can I be a job seeker and a mentee?

Yes, you may take on multiple roles. Please note that you will have different details to provide for each on your “My Account” page.

What is a mentee?
A mentee is a person who is “advised, trained, or counselled by a mentor”.

What if I feel uncomfortable during my session?

We recommend that you end the session and let us know immediately in the event you feel that the situation needs serious attention, and we can thereafter take necessary action. Please note, Mapped Asia is not liable for any damages.

Can I attend a session at the mentor’s home?

We strongly recommend using a public location for the meeting.

Can I refer someone to sign up as a mentor and is there a referral fee?

You may refer a mentor/mentee and company to sign up on Mapped Asia. However, the referral fees may only apply to new companies signing up. We are working on rewards for other referrals and will update our users once this is in place.

In the event my mentor hires me as an employee, do I have to pay Mapped Asia a fee?

No, you do not have to pay us any fees.

What do I do if I cannot find the location?

There are 3 options for mentorship locations – the Mapped Asia Office, a coffee shop or the office of the mentor. You will have the option to connect with the mentor and share your details to ensure you have a communication channel to find each other.

What do I do if the mentor is late?

We recommend everyone to respect one another’s time. You have the option of mentioning this in your review, and you can request the mentor to extend the time of the session to compensate for time lost.

What do I do if a mentor doesn’t attend my session?

The session will be considered cancelled and your funds will be refunded. The mentor only receives the payment once a review has been given on the platform.

What is the fee Mapped Asia charges?

Mapped Asia charges a small transaction fee which is included in the mentorship fee seen online. You do not pay anything additional to the prices that you see on the site.

How do I get my money back in the event I cancel the session?

You will only be charged once the mentor accepts your invitation for the session. The money will be in escrow until the mentor has left you a review after your session. If the meeting is cancelled, the money will be refunded to you.

How do I pay for these sessions?

You may pay for mentorship through your credit card or your PayPal account.

How many sessions can I have with a particular mentor?

You can have unlimited sessions, provided the mentor is open to this. We believe you need atleast 3 sessions with a mentor to fully add value.

How do I track my mentorship journey?

All your sessions are tracked under “History” in the “My Account” page.

Can I conduct my session virtually?

You may leave the session and give us feedback. Do note Mapped Asia is not liable to any damages.

Can I do a session at my home?

We strongly advise to do the session at a public place.

In the event I want to hire my mentee, is there a fee applicable?

No, there is no fee applicable.

What if I feel uncomfortable with my session?

We recommend you ending the session and letting us know immediately in the event you feel it needs serious attention, and we can thereafter take necessary action. Mapped Asia is not liable for any damages.

What do I do if a mentee doesn’t turn up or is late?
You may get in touch with the mentee to check the status. In the event, the mentee does not turn up within 30 minutes into the session, the mentee will be charged a fee and a portion will be transferred to your account.
What is the fee Mapped Asia charges?

We charge a 20% admin and management fee on every transaction. If you donate your earnings to a charity, then Mapped Asia offers a reduced fee of 15%.

How many people can I mentor?

You may mentor as many mentees as you like.

Can I add more services to my portfolio?

We will have a list of pre-defined services we feel are most in demand. However, in future you will be able to add more bespoke and specific services.

How do I pick the days/times I want to allot to mentoring?

You may choose recurring time slots on specific days when you might be available. The mentees can only book these specific slots if interested to be mentored by you.

How do reviews and ratings work?

At the end of each session you leave feedback for the mentee and the mentee leaves a rating and review. Better ratings and reviews automatically make you feature higher on the mentor page and increases your chances of more sessions booked.

Can I edit the feedback which is displayed in my profile?

You are not allowed to edit the reviews and ratings you receive. Do note, all comments and feedback have to be approved by our system administrator.

Can I see all the mentees I have mentored?

Yes, under the accounts tab.

Do I get any feedback at the end of the session?

Yes, you will get a review and rating of the session on the platform. You also have to give feedback to the mentee through your account. Only once you have completed this action, will the funds be transferred to you.

How long is each session?

We recommend the session to be at least 60 minutes. However, feel free to spend more time with your mentee.

Do I have to pay tax on these earnings?

Yes, you are required to pay taxes on the earnings from Mapped Asia in compliance with IRAS.

How do I know the rate I should charge?

We will advise the market rates for each service. You have the flexibility to adjust your own prices. You may want to browse other mentors to get a sense of your peers.

Does my company have to featured for me to be a mentor?

No, you may be a mentor without your company having featured. However, we have a referral bonus for successful referrals of companies on our platform.

Do I get a receipt for my donations?

Yes, you get a monthly receipt for your donations.

Does the donation go from Mapped Asia or me as an individual?

The donation is from you as an individual. Mapped Asia is simply transferring your earnings to your charity rather than to your bank account.

Do I get tax benefits?
Yes, certain charities can provide you with tax deductible donations. You may find more information here and here. You must do the necessary paperwork with the charity directly. Mapped Asia will only transfer the funds directly
Which charities can I support and can I change the charity that I support in future?

We have a large list of charities you can choose from. In the event you are not able to find the charity of your choice, do let us know at hello@mappedasia.com.

Do I get a receipt or invoice for each session?

We will email you the invoices at the end of each month.

How do I receive these funds?

You will need to provide us with your bank account details so we can transfer the funds at the end of each month.

Do I get paid to be a mentor?

There are two options. You can choose to be paid directly for the mentorship services, or you can choose to donate your share of the earnings to a charity of your choice.

Can I be a job seeker and a mentor?
Yes, you may take on multiple roles. Please note that you will have different details to provide for each on your “My Account” page.
How do I become a mentor?
Register on Mapped Asia and fill up your details in My Account, including the mentor details tab. Once you submit this and Mapped Asia approves you as a mentor, your profile will be displayed on the website.
Do I get access to Mapped Asia events?
Yes, you get access to our events.
Can I interact with other consultants and collaborate?
Yes, you may interact with other consultants. Mapped Asia will have regular events to engage the communities.
If the company hires me, do I have to pay a fee to Mapped Asia?

No, you are not required to pay a fee to Mapped Asia.

Can I do a session over video?

That is an arrangement between you and the client. Digital workshops are on the rise and hence, encouraged.

What if I feel uncomfortable with the company?

We have notice terms in your contract.

Can I quit mid-way?

We have notice terms in your contract. 

Can I work with the company directly after my session?

You can choose to do so; however, we encourage going through the platform for safeguarding your interests through our legal contracts between client and consultant.

What do I do if the company negotiates pricing after the engagement starts?

Companies are not allowed to negotiate pricing once the engagement starts.

What do I do if a company cancels mid-way?

We have notice terms in your contract.

What is the fee Mapped Asia charges?

Mapped charges a transaction fee to the client.

How many projects can I manage at one point?

You can manage multiple projects at any given point in time. We encourage you to limit the projects to a maximum of 10 hours a day.

Can I search for projects?

Not at the moment. We are working on this service, so stay tuned.

How do reviews and ratings work?

Clients can leave a review and rating at the end of the engagement.

Do I need to have a LinkedIn profile?

It is highly encouraged since it adds to your credibility. 

Can I use my profile link on my own website and LinkedIn?

Yes, we encourage you to put your experience as a consultant on your LinkedIn profile.

Can I see all the projects I have completed?

Yes, on the My Account page.

How do I track my assignments and projects?

You can track the history of your engagements on the My Account page. 

Do I get any feedback at the end of the session?

It is the prerogative of the client to give you feedback. Mapped Asia is not responsible for feedback or lack thereof.  

How long is each session?

Each session would be typically 60 minutes long since your pricing would be hourly as well.

Do I need to disclose to my company that I am accepting funds outside my job?

That is a discussion between you and the employer. 

Can I be a consultant but not disclose to my company?

That is a discussion between you and the employer. 

Does my company have to featured for me to be a consultant?

No, however, we have a referral bonus if your company comes on our platform.

Do I get a receipt for my donations?

Yes you get a receipt for your donations. 

Does the donation go from Mapped Asia or me as an individual?

It goes from you as an individual. 

Do I get tax benefits?
Yes, certain charities are able to provide you with tax deductible donations. You may find more information here and here. You will have to do the necessary paperwork with the charity directly. Mapped Asia will only transfer the funds directly.
Can I donate my earnings?

Yes, you may donate the whole (or a part) of your earnings to the charity of your choice.

Do I get any other perks?

We are working on membership rewards. Stay tuned.

Do I get healthcare and issuance benefits?

Mapped Asia does not provide you with any other benefits.

Do I have to pay tax on these earnings?

Yes, you are required to pay taxes on the earnings from Mapped Asia in compliance with IRAS. 

Do I get a receipt or invoice for each session?

Yes, we email you the invoices at the end of each month. 

Can I change my pricing?

Yes, you may revise your pricing. We recommend keeping the price in alignment to the market prices and trends and increasing/decreasing them based on the demand for your services. 

How do I receive these funds?

You will need to provide us with your bank account details so we can transfer the funds at the end of each month.

How do I decide my rate?

We give you a market benchmark to fix a price and you may look at other consultants to get an idea of the market.

Do I get paid for my work?

Yes, you have an hourly service rate.

Do I need to make my profile?

Yes you need to make a profile so you can be more marketable and appealing to potential clients.

Can I be a mentor, job seeker and mentee?

Yes, you may take multiple roles on our platform. 

Can I be working and still be a consultant?

Yes you may, however that depends on your arrangement with your employer. 

Who is a “consultant”?
A consultant is someone, “who gives professional advice or services”.
Can I search for consultants online?

Not currently. We are working on making that live soon.

Can I engage the consultant after the engagement or hire the consultant thereafter on a permanent basis on my payroll?

Yes you may. Do note you will have to bear Mapped Asia placement fees (see terms here).

Do I pay the consultant directly or does Mapped Asia pay them?

They would be paid by Mapped Asia.

How do I post projects for short term consulting assignments?

You can do so from your accounts page.

Can I share the company page link internally when I invite candidates for interviews or for other such purpose?

Yes, you may use the link freely for any internal or external purpose.

Do I receive any analytics on my company page?

Based on the plan you chose. For the premium plan, you get analytics for your page.

Is there a mobile site and mobile app also available?

We have a mobile and web site. We are working on our mobile application at the moment.

What is the traffic like on your platform?

Being very new, our traffic is low. We will update you on these figures every 6 months.

Do I have to pay additionally for Mapped Asia events?

Based on the plan you chose. For the premium plan, your employees get free access to all events.

Are you liable for any damages physically or emotionally arising from our employees who are mentors on the platform?

Mapped Asia is not liable for any damages arising from the production or feature of your company on our platform.

Can we block the timings the mentors put on their profiles?

Yes, we can block the timings for all your company mentors so it does not interfere with your business hours.

How do we on-board mentors on our page?

You/the mentor can create new mentor profiles and tag them to your company. Mapped Asia will assist in that process in the event there are any difficulties.

Do we have to write the job descriptions ourselves, or does Mapped Asia help us?

If you have an existing description, just send it over to us. Alternatively, we can help you create the descriptions at an additional charge.

How do we receive the job applications?

You receive them in your inbox or if you have a CV management tool – we can direct the applications there.

Do I get an account manager?

This is based on the plan you choose. For the premium plan, you get a dedicated account manager.

How many times can I change my content?

This is based on the plan you choose. For the premium plan, you may request your account manager to change your content as and when you feel it is necessary.

Can I add additional videos and what are the charges involved?

Our video services come at a fixed cost for one corporate video and 3 employee interviews. In the event you want to shoot additional videos, we are happy to share the pricing - just contact us at hello@mappedasia.com.

Does Mapped Asia help me promote my content, and what are the charges?
Yes, we promote certain content on social media platforms depending on the plan. You may pay an extra amount and we would be happy to promote your content.
Can I use this content internally without the Mapped Asia branding?

We can explore this request on a case by case basis based on the plan your company is on.

Who has ownership of this content?
The content is owned by Mapped Asia and we can share the content on a case by case basis.
Does Mapped Asia help me in curating and creating this content?

Yes, our premium plan includes that service.

What days and timings in a week can I film?

It needs to be from 9-7pm, Monday – Friday.

How do I get approvals from the building management?

Certain buildings need to be informed regarding production equipment and schedules. You may need to inform them beforehand.

How do I get approvals from my company’s HQ?

You may highlight the platform to your marketing, talent acquisition or business head and explain the shared rights of content. We drive traffic to your company careers page or general website hence, increasing your traffic. We want to support your career and employer branding efforts.

What do you require before taking videos?

There is a list of preparations as well as Dos and Don’ts which will be sent before the shoot.

How do you create the video content for my company?

We have a production partner and will plan out the shoot. 

Do I need to assign an admin to use the platform?

Yes, we encourage someone in the HR team to be the admin so they can add new jobs, review job posts etc.

What services do I get under each plan?

Can I change my plan along the way?

You may upgrade your plan, however, you are not allowed to downgrade.

Are there any penalties for cancelling midway?

Yes, in the event you cancel in the middle of the contract, you have to complete payment for the remaining months and your company page can be left as is or taken down, as per your preference.

How do I pay for the monthly subscription?

You may use a company credit card to do a bank transfer.

Do I have to pay everything upfront?

Yes, you have to commit to a 1 year contract and the billing cycle starts once you sign up.

How do I feature my company on the platform?
You can speak to one of the Mapped Asia employees and we will put your company on a plan which suits you. Just write to us at hello@mappedasia.com.
